Leaders and Staff

Elders

In the Bible we see elders are appointed to lead churches. They are also called shepherds or overseers and are given the task to look after and oversee all that happens in their church. At City Church we have three elders:

Dan Maton

Dan Maton

Dan joined City Church in 1999. He became an elder in 2008 and began leading the eldership team in 2013. In this role he is responsible for preaching and teaching, church vision, and leading the staff team. Dan is married to Rachel and they live with their three children in Sharrow.

Richard Owen

Richard Owen

Richard joined City Church in 2001. He became an elder of the church in 2014 whilst also working as an electro-magnetic design engineer, and in September 2016 he started working full time for City Church. Rich is involved in preaching, leading worship and oversees our kids, youth and social action activities. He is married to Nicki and they live with their two children in Firth Park.

Chris Chart

Chris Chart

Chris joined City Church in 1998 and, having served the church for many years as the Chair of Trustees and also as a youth leader, joined the eldership team in 2016. Amongst other things, Chris oversees the church's Life Groups. He is married to Wendy and they have two grown up daughters.

Staff

Ginny Burgin

Ginny Burgin

Born and brought up in Sheffield, Ginny and her husband Stuart have been part of City Church Sheffield and its Baptist predecessor for over 40 years. Ginny is currently on the staff of City Church serving both pastorally and prophetically as well as serving elsewhere in the UK and Canada as part of the Christ Central Apostolic Team. Ginny has held a long-standing expectation to see revival in the UK and is passionate to see local churches thrive and grow as they experience the work of the Holy Spirit in their midst. Stuart is now retired so spends much more time travelling with Ginny, and helping to entertain their four lively grandchildren.

Ben Gibbins

Ben Gibbins

Ben has been involved with City Church since it began; and after working as a civil servant for a number of years, he became the church administrator in 2008. This involves keeping a handle on the CCS buildings, communications and many of our projects. He is also involved with preaching and teaching. Ben is married to Jules and they live in Walkley along with their four daughters.

Bev Jarvis

Bev Jarvis

Born and bred in Sheffield, Bev first became familiar with the Church after taking her son to Kidz Club on Saturday mornings (a club CCS ran for a number of years). She started coming to City Church Sheffield in 2007, after she became a Christian at a special outreach event at the Octagon Centre. Bev heads up Jubilee Food Bank, leading a team which operates from Shirecliffe Community Centre. She has been married to Darren for 20 years and has three children and three grandchildren.

Will Pattison

Will Pattison
